Inspired by the famous 2013 World Championship Candidates match held in London England a decade ago. Tempest has re-imagined every aspect of the famous Staunton design variant which debuted at that tournament. A tournament in which a young Magnus Carlsen finally broke through, as anticipated, then further went on to challenge and decisively defeat then world champion Vishy Anand to claim his first of many FIDE world championship titles to come. Tempest’s re-design features all-original fierce knights, diminutive pawns, more straight-forward/unadorned rooks, simplified bishop cuts, and signature Tempest-cross king’s crowns.
Tournament Regulation height: 3.75" Kings, in Natural Boxwood & Ebonized Boxwood.
