Compatibility Chart

Tempest makes use of your phone’s own Gyroscope sensor, so that the base itself needs no electronics or batteries! As long as your phone has a true Gyroscope sensor it will work (Note: all Apple phones have true gyroscopes, as do most Android models. But not all. Some low cost Android models exists with cheaper 'gyros' that are useful to switch from portrait to landscape but not the quick and accurate tilt sensing required for Tempest game play. It's rare to find these models, but check below if you're not sure).

Use the chart below as a guideline. All iOS models work. But there are thousands of Android phone models on the market, all the major ones are listed here, but if you don’t see yours listed below, click here to find your exact model, and scroll down to ‘Features’ to see if “Gyroscope” is listed. That’s all that’s required.

Samsung Galaxy S	✅	All models, All years, but NOTE: Older Samsung S9, S10 etc, implement aggressive battery saving settings hiding under Settings > "Game Booster" > Touch Timeout) Please turn this off to avoid sleep timeout.
Samsung Galaxy A6+A7	✅	For some reason A6 & A7 have gyros but most A series don’t
Samsung (most A series)	😢	Confusingly some model years have gyros, some don’t. Check
Samsung Galaxy J9	😢	J-series is a low budget series and sadly don't include gyroscope sensors.
Samsung Note Series	😢	Note series have an issue where they are lagging (slow to report gyro sensor data), We hope to find out why, but for now can't recommend Note.
Xiaomi Redmi Note	✅	All models compatible
Xiaomi Redmi Pro	✅	All models compatible
Xiamo Redmi 12+	✅	All models compatible
Xiamo Redmi 4-11	😢	Non-“PRO” or “NOTE” models prior to model-12 = no gyro.
Huawei (99%)	✅	Hundreds (!) of models include gyro since 2015.
Huawei Lite	😢	‘Lite’=No Gyro. Some very random exceptions. Check yours.

Nokia	✅	All Android Models (2015+)
Sony Xperia	✅	All Android Models (2015+)

Motorola G series	😢	Moto G phones do have gyros, but for some reason is not responsive in the same way as these others. We are actively investigating this issue with Moto G phones, like G-Play (we're looking into this)
Motorola Edge (not Neo)	✅	All Edge Models (except Edge30 Neo)
Moto E series (economy)	😢	E=Economy=No gyroscope.

Blackview A100	✅	A100 and up includes Gyro. A95 and down does not.
Blackview A95, A80, A70	😢	E=Economy=No gyroscope.

HTC One	✅	All models.
HTC U-series	✅	All models.
HTC Desire	✅	All models.

TCL All other models	😢	TCL’s models are mostly missing gyro sensors, except Pro models.

These are just the major models. 99% of modern phones have gyroscopes. Some brands released a minority of economy versions of their Android phones omitting this sensor.
